FULFILLING THE LONG-RANGE VISION FOR BOOT RANCH
On his first visit to Longhorn Lake with the developer in 2015, architect John Sather found little more than a spring-fed fishing hole at the end of a rough ranch road. But what he envisioned was a one-of-a-kind destination that would one day be the hub of family fun at Boot Ranch. It would take years to get roads and major utilities to the site, but by 2017 the first pieces of the Lake Club were in place. It became a magnet for members’ kids and grandkids. The simple pleasures of fishing, kayaking, jumping in the lake, and hiding out in treehouses were augmented by summer adventure camps and campouts.
But the big picture for the Longhorn Lake Club always included much more, and it’s closer than ever to becoming reality:
- A waterfront clubhouse for casual dining indoors and out
- Two bars, one adjacent to the dining room and the other poolside
- Two pools, a water slide for kids, a family spa, fire pit, and changing rooms
- A silo serving buzz-worthy sweets and coffee treats
- A party barn big enough for basketball, kids’ activities, private events, and member gatherings of any sort
- A lawn sloping down to the lake for weddings, concerts, or just soaking up the sun
That’s the future of the Lake Club, and it is scheduled to complete construction in the summer of 2026. During construction, the existing Lake Club facilities can be accessed from the eastern shore of the lake where there’s parking, picnic tables and the Caddie Shack food truck.
